Shiki is one of the best places to eat in London Ontario. I used to spend my student loans and work study money here and still come here often on special occasions. The atmosphere of this and similar places helped me decide to leave for Asia, where I invested over six years of my life - two in Seoul and four in Tokyo, where my first daughter was born.
The wave is from a woodblock print of Hakusai's "Tidal Wave." Some restaurant customers complained that using tsunami for signage is inappropriate considering destruction the waves bring. However, the print does not celebrate natural disasters but human struggle against the humbling forces of nature - just have one closer look(at)the fishermen on the boats.
