Contact/Free Consultation
We talk about your goals, your plans for the website, your current promotional materials, brochures, signage and business cards. We have a look at your best competition and what they do well in their online marketing. We discuss what is important to your clients or audience and thus visitors we will aim to attract. We talk about key information the visitors would seek. We decide on a clear message that your website must send. We brainstorm for images to go with this message. We rethink the size, complexity and features of your website. We come up with a work-in-progress sitemap and decide on website navigation and column layout.
Firm Quote
You will be presented with a proposal and a web design fee. We can renegotiate the complexity, scope, price and dates. You may request an alternative proposal.
Formalities
We write up a contract. "The General Agreement" includes due dates and names of parties involved. "The Works" specifies in detail the work to be undertaken and completed. "Standard Terms and Conditions" includes definitions, disclaimers, responsibilities, legal consequences and rights. Everyone involved signs the contract and we collect 40% of the total fee agreed upon.
Process
After receiving all necessary photos and other materials from you, collecting detailed information through interviews, over telephone, by email or in person, and making any necessary field trips to take additional photos, we start working on rough visual concepts. You select the ones you like and reject the ones you don't. The core design work is done and you are presented with a sample page or two. We agree on final concept and get working on all the remaining pages and filling in the content. When all pages are complete, we test, troubleshoot, validate, check usability and accessibility, proofread, run a spell-check and verify that there are no dead links and that all pages are linked to.
Final Revision Period
You are given two weeks to browse the test website and ask for any reasonable revisions. Revisions are made.
Launching
All necessary services are set up. We let your domain propagate if necessary. We set up the website behind a pre-launch message that shows instead of your home page. We immediately test and troubleshoot. When we get the green light from you, we take down the pre-launch message and launch the site. We submit the website to search engines and optionally launch your online marketing campaign. Thus we announce the existence of your website to the world.
