Web design fees start at $1500 for custom projects. Every custom built website is unique and differs in complexity, use of dynamic content, navigation, layout, number of images used, page size and so on. Answers to these questions may help determine the budget necessary. To give you better idea of my going rate before you request a quote, here are some sample offers:

Web Design for a Small CMS (User Updateable) Website

Customized look design for client-updatable websites based on popular proprietary or free/open-source content management systems such as WordPress and select existing theme - $2500 (add $375 for each 10 pages of content you provide for inputting beyond the first ten pages included - count one page as approximately 250 words and two images on average).

Organization Website - Static

$3000

Custom web design for a resource website under twenty five (or under 20,000 words and under 75 images) of content you provide. Responsive layout. Indexer. Search box. Search results. Up to 50 links to PDF or DOC documents for download. (Search script requires dynamic hosting unless you prefer a popular search engine based custom script integration.)

Organization Website - CMS (User Updateable)

$3250

An organization website for under twenty five pages (or under 20,000 words and under 150 images) of content you provide. Up to 100 links to PDF or DOC documents for download. Dynamic hosting is required and can be provided for a fee.

Online Store on Shopify or Similar eCommerce Platform

$2500

Custom look design for Shopify and or such ready third-party hosted, secured and managed ecommerce system. Content inputting may include up to 20 products, 60 images, & 6000 words, and more can be negotiated. Taking product photos in a light tent or such is $20 per photo or $30 for up to 5 photos of the same product. $20 per each extra product you would like inputted into the system (up to three images and three hundred words). Any product description that requires manual typing counts double. Please note that I do not help with federal, provincial or state retail tax issues, intellectual property issues, legal issues or shipping. You will have to administer the store, keep track of inventory, respond to clients, ship items, set tax rates, process requests for refunds and more.

Simple Static Website with Paypal or Such Elements

A custom designed static website with PayPal buttons or PayPal cart and optional inventory tracking. My design fees for such start at $1750 for the static website under six pages with PayPal options and under eight products.

Photo Field Trip

Up to half-day of photo-taking, selection, post-processing, cropping and resizing for your website. May include some social profile portraits or group photos as well as interior, exterior or product photography.

Up to two hours of photo-taking, selection, post-processing, cropping and resizing for your website. May include a social profile portrait or group photo as well as interior, exterior or product photography.

Social Profile Portrait

Up to an hour of photo-taking, selection & post-processing, ideally resulting in at least one social profile portrait that you like. Add $75 for each additional person/portrait/hour.

Writing

If you need some writing for a small website, you can have me work with you on your copy, that is, if anything on this website makes you feel confident about my writing.

+$0.60 per word +$60 per hour for interviewing or information gathering.

Better yet, I can recommend a talented and widely published local professional to help you with wordsmithing. You negotiate directly with the expert and when all's done, email me the text.

Add Logo Design or Redesign

Same logo, new visual direction or simple refinement. You provide current logo.

Full design from your concept. You provide idea or concept on paper or in a file.

Illustrations

If you need hand-crafted illustrations for your website, I can recommend a talented local artist you can approach to see if he or she would be interested in working on your project. You would negotiate directly with the illustrator.
